Family Movie Night

Posted in Arts & Humanities | Posted on 16-05-2010

Last night was family movie night. On these nights, everyone stops what they are doing and gathers in the living room. This week instead of renting a DVD we watched Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel on DIRECT TV . This was a cute film our daughter had been wanting to see.

The movie begins with Dave Seville, the man who cares for the chipmunks getting into a major accident causing him to be admitted to the hospital for a majority of the movie. While he is in the hospital, he calls Aunt Jackie to come stay with the boys and has them enrolled in school. Upon her arrival, Aunt Jackie is injured as well and the chipmunks end up in the care of Dave’s cousin Toby who is the epitome of the word slacker.

The boys begin school and right off are hazed by the other more popular students. Alvin ends up winning them over, but they still make fun of Simon and Theodor causing a riff between the brothers. While this is going on the chipmunks old manager Ian who is now broke and homeless, is approached by a group of female singing chipmunks who are looking to be famous like the original chipmunks. Ian comes up with a plan to gain the newly names Chipettes.

The Chipettes start the same school that the Chipmunks are attending and they eventually meet and right way the boys are smitten by the girls who have been told by Ian that the Chipmunks used and abandoned him after leaving him broke. In the end the Chipmunks and Chipettes come together to win the all-county singing contest and save the school’s music program. It was a great movie that my whole family enjoyed and would not mind watching it on dstar again.
