Most powdery drugstore eye shadows are indistinguishable. But Bare Minerals’ new Ready eye shadow palettes have a different feel. They look like a typical pressed powder, but have a smooth, almost creamy consistency on your lids. The mineral-based shadows are free of parabens, binders, and fillers, so they won’t irritate your eyes or dry out delicate skin. And though they’re free of unnecessary chemicals, they’re packed with antioxidants, cold-pressed borage oil, and cucumber to soothe tired eyes while adding a pop of color. Standouts from the fifteen duo palettes include (clockwise from top left) the Grand Finale, The Honeymoon Phase, The Flashback, and the Top Shelf, with rich shades ranging from a shimmery gold Standing O to a coppery Cognac.
Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow, $20 for 2 shades, $30 for 4 at Sephora or online.

Wine buckets swallow up cupboard space and are too big to tote to that last-gasp Indian-summer picnic, anyway. The Corkcicle ($24.95 at Annie’s Blue Ribbon General Store, 365 State St., nr. Bond St., Boerum Hill; 718-522-9848), however, stows in a freezer, rinses easily, and rapidly chills bottles without diluting the blend. The icicle-shaped spear, which you insert into a wine bottle immediately after pouring your first glass, is made of nontoxic gel encased in BPA-free plastic. It maintains the optimal temperature for whites—about 50 degrees—for 45 minutes, but can also cool reds to cellar temperature in ten minutes flat.
